BIO
It’s not every day that a new act seems to pop out of virtually nowhere, propelled quickly from absolute silence to wide recognition. And still, it’s the case here: there’re no anecdotes about Julien Chastagnol (Ruby My Dear) being a member of some old band, having toured the world under another name or being a part of some other project. Starting in 2009 with some already very solid mash-eps and hard breakcore tunes, Ruby My Dear was quickly recognized by the then nascent new wave of breakcore fans as somebody who could bring something to this relatively forgotten genre in dire need for fresh blood and new quality acts. A first digital release on Peace Off (arguably one of the core label of this genre), leading to a salvo of live gigs all over Europe and another EP for the irish label Acroplane.
Fast forward to 2012: Ruby My Dear finally broke the digital wall with his first physical release, the “Remains Of Shapes To Come” CD album on Ad Noiseam, which very quickly gained a lot of praise for the way it marries upgraded music productions, relaxed atmospheres with the rage and crazyness of breakcore. In the words of Resident Advisor: “Whether breakcore does ever make its fabled second coming is irrelevant if albums like Remains of Shapes to Come and visionaries such as RMD continue to keep the spirit alive.” Things have known kicked into gear for Ruby My Dear: he’s played countless
gigs and festivals all across Europe, received accolades from his peers (including working with Igorrr on his new album) and has become of the most talked about and asked for breakcore act of the moment.
Ruby My Dear’s second full length album, “Form” is planned for release on Ad Noiseam in October 2013, and on all formats, therefore finally bringing this artist’s music to vinyl. Ruby My Dear is based in Toulouse, France, and available for shows and tours in Europe. For interviews or booking inquiries, please get in touch with Ad Noiseam.
